MAXXI PRESENTS ANDRECO’S FLUMEN PROJECT ON THE OCCASION OF WORLD WATER DAY

The project between art, science and activism about rivers, conceived by Andrea Conte, presents for the first time the film TIBERINA, a performance for the Tiber. At the end of the screening, at the MAXXI Auditorium, there will be a meeting with the artist Andrea Conte – Studio ANDRECO, Laura Passatore, CNR researcher, Amanda Boetzkes, art historian, Teresa Macrì, art critic.

On the occasion of World Water Day, the MAXXI National Museum of 21st Century Arts and the Flumen project present together a moment of reflection that will take place on March 22 from 6 to 8 pm at the MAXXI Auditorium.

The Day, established by the United Nations in 1992, is part of the directives of Agenda 21 and is the result of the Rio conference, aims to enhance this precious resource for the world at a time when the theme of the environment has taken on a central role.

 

Flumen – Climate Actions for parks and rivers in Rome – was conceived by the artist and engineer specializing in environmental sustainability Andrea Conte – Studio Andreco and created by the Climate Art Project association together with many local partners. During the first two years (2020, 2021) the artist conducted together with the project partners surveys, recons, participatory monitoring, data collection, research, planting interventions and of course performative actions that involved experts and citizens, families, children, exploring the state of Rome’s rivers in the capital, especially the areas of the Tiber, Aniene and Parco di Veio.

 

Aule Verdi is the name given to the interventions of experimental reforestation that combine social and artistic practices with environmental ones related to Nature-Based Solutions, solutions that are based on natural processes to restore ecosystems contaminated by humans. As part of the meeting, the video Tiberina will be screened for the first time, which shows the Tiberina Parade of the Beginnings, a collective performance directed by the visual artist Andrea Conte – Studio Andreco produced by Romaeuropa Festival, in collaboration with the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, the Accademia Santa Cecilia and Zètema for the Rome 2020 Festival of Roma Capitale. The screening, introduced by the greetings of Irene De Vico Fallani, Head of Programs Office of MAXXI, will be accompanied by an in-depth moment that will involve the artist Andrea Conte – Studio Andreco, Laura Passatore, researcher CNR IRET, the art historian Amanda Boetzkes, the art critic Teresa Macri.

 

The project,  promoted by Roma Culture, is the winner of the Public Notice Eureka! Roma 2020-2021-2022 curated by Department of Cultural Activities and it is realised in collaboration wit SIAE  together with an important web of artistic and scientific partners: National Research Council, CNR IRET, CNR IBPM, La Sapienza University, Roma TRE University, MAXXI, Palaexpo Special Company, Baruchello Foundation, Together for the Aniene Onlus, CSA-Semi di Comunità, smART Foundation, ARPA LAZIO, Agenda Tevere, Joint Cultural Initiatives. The Flumen project is also included in the three-year actions envisaged by the Tiber River Contract relating to the river auction from Castel Giubileo to the estuary.
